What will the first day look like?
The first day will be the opportunity for students to meet their teacher and get re-acclimated to school. Visitor numbers are limited on campus, so we have moved Meet the Teacher to a virtual platform on Tuesday afternoon. Pre-K and K arrival is staggered to allow parents, one at time, to drop off their student at the classroom door, as for many this is their first school experience. Dismissal will be at noon.
What are the expectations of face coverings?
Face coverings include masks and shields. Masks are available from our uniform provider, Lands’ End. Masks may be purchased from other vendors; however, they should be solid in color and free of graphics or messages. Shields should be minimal and cover the face. All face coverings should be Catholic school appropriate.
Will there be masks available should my student need one?
There may be times when a student needs a replacement mask. The school will have a supply of disposable masks.
How and where will my student’s mask be stored when they are not using them?
Students will be supplied with a plastic bag with their name labelled on it for storage. Parents are welcome to purchase a mask lanyard for students if they wish.
When will my students be required to wear a face covering?
All students and staff will wear face coverings as they move about the building, except for Pre-K and K. Classrooms where desks are 6 feet apart will allow for students to remove their face coverings for short periods of time throughout the day while at their desks. Students will be permitted to remove face coverings, while maintaining social distance, for PE, recess, and outdoor classroom instruction.
Will my students be moving classrooms this year?
In most cases, teachers will move while students stay in their homerooms. Students will move to PE, recess, and the outdoor classroom spaces.
If I choose the Virtual Crusader option how will my student get their books and supplies?
Virtual Crusaders will be given a day and time to come and pick up supplies and books.
What will my child wear on the first day of school?
Even though it is a Wednesday mass day, students will wear their regular uniform.
What if someone tests positive for COVID in the school community? Will the school close?
We intend to maintain social distancing measures therefore we will be limiting potential close contact during the school day. These measures are intended to reduce the likelihood of quarantining entire classes or the school. Our ability to remain open and reduce risk is dependent upon families conducting self-screening of their students and communicating with the school.
Are we changing into PE clothes?
At this time, we will not be changing for PE. We will re-evaluate this after school starts.
Will there be sports?
At this time all GHCAA sports have been cancelled. We hope to resume during the second semester.
